Seattle: Boeing Factory Tour
Seattle is know for a few things: rain, coffee (home of Starbucks), music, Microsoft, and, of course, Boeing! One of the cool things you can do when you visit the area, is visit the actual Boeing Factory in Everett. So, while my sister was in town visiting, we decided to go and check it out.
The tour is only $20 per adult ($14 for those 15 and under) and includes entrance to the Future of Flight gallery.
The Future of Flight is not too big, it doesn't take very long to look at everything. It shows off a few airplane parts (those engines are HUGE up close). You can easily see it in 15-20 minutes.
For the actual tour, sadly there is no pictures or video allowed. You actually will have to leave your purse, cameras, cell phones, and everything else in the free lockers at the entrance. The tours are approximately 90 minutes. They start at the Future of Flight building and then everyones boards a bus to the actual factory building. The tour guide takes you to the balconies of two different sections of the building. You are able to look down and see everyone at work and all stages of the plane building. It’s really neat to see and you learn a lot of interesting things during the tour. I'm not a huge plane enthusiast, but I still found it super neat.
I recommend going during a week day, if you can. There will be more people at work, so more to see. So, if you are in the area and can make it up to Everett, definitely check out the Boeing Factory Tour!
Also, don't forget to go to the roof to get a great view of the factory. We even got lucky and saw them unloading some parts from the Dream Lifter.
