Seattle: Queen Mary Tea Room

Back in July, the hubby took me to my first "afternoon tea" for our anniversary. I'm a big tea drinker and lover of all things sweet, so I've been wanting to go to a tea room for sometime.

We decided to go to Queen Mary Tea Room in Seattle. The tea room is near the University Village near University of Washington campus. It was a beautiful day out, so we chose to take the bus and walk to the tea room. Along the way, we got to see the Husky Stadium and the Montlake Bridge. A very nice walk on a nice sunny day.

Prior to going, we did make a reservation online. So, when we got there, we were seated almost immediately. Its a small space, but it feels nice and cozy. For the afternoon tea, each person receives a pot of their choice of tea. And they have quite a nice selection. I chose a vanilla black tea and Ali chose a black currant black tea.

With the tea, we also received a huge variety of sweet and savory treats - sorbet, sandwiches, cookies, fruit, etc. I was worried that since all the portions looked so small, that it wouldn't be filling, but instead, we almost couldn't finish it all. We only found out after that we could've taken a to-go box. And everything was super tasty. I wasn't disappointed by any of the food.

Since this is my first experience, I can't really compare it to other tea rooms. The whole afternoon tea cost us about $40 per person. But, I had a great time and I definitely recommend it for a special occasion.
