Japan & Oceanic Adventure 2017: Part 4: Sydney, Australia

4 friends. 3 countries. 5 cities. 3 weeks.

For our next stop in Australia, we headed to Sydney!

Day 1:

We arrived! Made our way from the airport to our hotel. A few trains and some walking.

By the time we got to the hotel, it was pretty late and rainy, so Ali and I ventured out for some food. We had a little hotel pizza party to end the night.

Day 2:

We were up bright and early day 2 to get to a tour of the Sydney Opera House. We decided to walk, because there is so much to see along the way!

Made it to the Opera House and went through the tour to see the inside. Super beautiful!

Next up, we set off to find the Sydney Harbor Bridge Pylon Lookout. The entrance turned out to be way harder to find than we had anticipated. We wondered around for quite a bit, stopped for some lunch, and stumbled on a little art fair.

After fueling up and buying a few artsy things, we were off again to look for the Pylon Lookout. Turns out, you have to walk quite a ways away from the waterfront before you find the staircase up to the bridge. At the top, we got to see some great views of the city. And on the way up, we got to enjoy some fun facts about the building of the bridge.

Post bridge adventure, we wondered around the city for a bit.

We had to hang around until dark to view the Vivid! Light Show that was going on during the time we were there. If you're able to go to Sydney when they hold this event, I would recommend checking it out. Its a free. They have various light displays and projection shows all around the harbor. Lots of lights, lots of food, and lots of fun.

And that concludes day 2!

Day 3:

Day 3 began with a bus ride to Bondi Beach. It was a little cold the day we went there, so we didn't do any swimming, but it was fun watching the surfers and walking around some of the shops and restaurants.

After our lunch, it was back on the bus to head to the Powerhouse Museum. The Powerhouse Museum is Sydney's Science & Applied Arts museum. There are a lot of cool things in there: space, trains, and some special exhibits featuring 3D printing and wedding dresses, just to name a few of the things we saw.

Then it was back to the hotel. We caught a night view of the city along the way. Also grabbed a falafel while we waited for the bus.

Day 4:

Day 4 is the day we said goodbye to Sydney. And bye to Australia, as we boarded our plane to New Zealand!

Next Stop: Auckland, New Zealand
